Why Shouldn’t I List With A Realtor?
Many Glendale AZ homeowners think listing a house with a realtor is a no brainer. We see many cases where listing a property with a realtor is not the best route.
Even if your house is in perfect condition and the market is hot, listing a house with a realtor on the open market can still be very time consuming and costly. When you consider a house that needs major repairs or has challenging tenants, it is unlikely your house will sell quickly for top dollar.
Keep in mind, when you list a house with a Realtor:
✗ It may take months to sell your house
You will have to wait until the right buyer
✗ You pay for repairs, commissions & closing costs
That will cost you around $22,000 for the average house in Arizona.
✗ You will deal with open houses
You will have to stage and prepare your house for multiple open houses

Before its origin, what is now known as the city of Glendale was all desert. A man by the name of William John Murphy, a native of New Hartford, New York, who resided in modern-day Flagstaff, was leading the development of a 40 mile long canal known as the Arizona Canal which spanned from the New River to Granite Reef. In 1885, the canal was completed, which would now bring water to the desert land. Murphy was deep in debt, since he agreed to be paid in company stocks and bonds instead of cash.
Murphy later formed the Arizona Improvement Company with the objective to sell the land and water rights south of the canal he had built. Murphy decided to refer to this land as “Glendale”. To attract potential investors and new settlers, Murphy decided to provide an 18 mile long access road spanning from Phoenix to Peoria called Grand Avenue.
The construction and commercial applications of the Beet Sugar Factory in 1906 contributed to the growth of Glendale. Though the operations of the factory only lasted until 1913, it played a large role in the increase of migrant and immigrant settlers in the city.
